So here we go again. You know you have arrived when your site is being attacked by hackers. The part I don’t understand is how people continue to give out personal information online. I take that back, I do understand how this stuff happens.

I look at my mom, and then I say some people just are not use to the World Wide Web. it is almost,if not exactly, the same as visiting a city you have never been to before, and asking for directions in a shady part of town. Of course the guy with the gold teeth and braids in his head; that gave you the directions that you thought were “not so” correct, but you listened because “he’s from here”, is the same guy that is yelling “give me all your shit” through your car window in the alley he sent you down.

So where was I before I went off on a tantrum? Oh, back to Twitter and it’s security issue. Seems that someone has hacked the Twitter accounts of Barack Obama and Britney Spears to name a few. I never belived that these accounts were acuatlly owned by these individuals, but I guess I was wrong, which is rarely the case. I placed a copy of Twitter’s official explanation below:

This morning we discovered 33 Twitter accounts had been “hacked” including prominent Twitter-ers like Rick Sanchez and Barack Obama (who has not been Twittering since becoming the president elect due to transition issues). We immediately locked down the accounts and investigated the issue. Rick, Barack, and others are now back in control of their accounts. What Happened? The issue with these 33 accounts is different from the Phishing scam aimed at Twitter users this weekend. These accounts were compromised by an individual who hacked into some of the tools our support team uses to help people do things like edit the email address associated with their Twitter account when they can’t remember or get stuck. We considered this a very serious breach of security and immediately took the support tools offline. We’ll put them back only when they’re safe and secure.

Most of us got a good chuckle out of the various messages that were left on the Twitter accounts for Barack Obama, Britney Spears, Bill O’Reilly and others this morning. But one other message came through loud and clear – Twitter is not yet ready for prime time, even though users continue to flock to the service.
